As a gift to the music community this holiday season, The Jerry Garcia Foundation has shared its latest venture, the Jerry Garcia Archive. The unveiling of the archive will take place on Aug. 1 of 2022, which would have been Garcia’s 80th birthday.

The online archive plans to serve as a resource and digital library devoted to historical information about the beloved and iconic musician. The Jerry Garica Foundation has invited fans to contribute digital copies of their artistic creations via the Jerry Garcia Archive website beginning on Dec. 7, and will be contributing unseen content of their own. The socially assembled collection will provide the community of Garcia enthusiasts an opportunity to contribute, connect and inspire.

The archive will be comprised of cataloged digital images of fan art, news articles, photos, memorabilia, books, visual art, CDs, cassette tapes, video and albums. Additionally, the foundation has shared they’re reviewing higher education institutions as potential co-management partners for the archive.

“The Jerry Garcia Archive will serve as a vehicle of education and inspiration for the greater
community,” said a spokesperson from the Jerry Garcia Foundation in a press release. “This project will help further the humanitarian and artistic mission of the foundation.”
