Last night, The Hold Steady kicked off their four-night run billed as Massive Nights at New York City’s Brooklyn Bowl. The band was joined by actor and musician Michael Imperioli and vocalist Augusta Koch on “Chillout Tent” during last night’s celebrations.

To kick off the evening, Imperioli’s band Zopa opened. The Hold Steady then hopped onstage for their first in-person full capacity show in two years. They started with “Constructive Summer” from their 2008 LP Stay Positive and moved into a pairing of “Barfruit Blues” and “Lanyards,” the latter of which comes from their 2021 offering Open Door Policy.

The band then riffed through their entire 2006 album Boys And Girls In America. The 11 track run of songs were joined by a few bonus tracks. Towards the end of the Boys And Girls In America segment, Imperioli and Koch came back on stage to help join on vocals for “Chillout Tent.”

After Boys And Girls In America’s material was tapped out, they moved to Thrashing Thru The Passion’s “Denver Haircut” then played “Sequestered In Memphis,” “Me & Magdalena,” “Your Little Hoodrat Friend” and “Slapped Actress.”

They encored with a debut rendition of Counting Crows’ “A Long December” Stay Positive’s “Ballad Of The Midnight Hauler.” The Hold Steady ended the evening with “You Gotta Dance (With Who You Came To The Dance With)” and “Killer Parties.”
