Ahead of the July 30 release of her new album Stand For Myself, Yola has shared a music video for the album’s title track.

“I feel that the video is set in the antechamber to freedom,” the singer said of the new clip. “The feeling of escaping something truly oppressive and heading towards an unknown with a sense of hope and choice you haven’t felt in a long time. We all have the capacity to go through this process in our own minds, I kinda look like a superhero at times, but I’m not. I’m just a person trying to be free.”

Live music fans may recognize Yola from her memorable sets at Newport Folk Festival or Brandi Carlile’s Girls Just Wanna Weekend.

Stand For Myself will be the British-born singer’s sophomore album, released on Dan Auerbach’s Easy Eye Sound label. (Auerbach also produced the impending LP.)
