Photos & Setlists: Greensky Bluegrass Celebrate First Shows of 2021 with Debut of Boston's "Foreplay/Longtime" and "Time"-Themed Setlists

On May 14-15, Greensky Bluegrass returned to the stage at The Woodlands in Charleston, SC.

This outing marked the Michigan jamgrass outfit’s first shows since Halloween 2020, closing a show gap of 195 days.

The band had “time” on their mind during the run, and nodded to their performance hiatus immediately by opening their first set with their first-ever version of Boston’s frantic instrumental “Foreplay/Longtime.”

Other notable moments from night one included a mighty “A Letter to Seymour”> “In Control”> “Can’t Stop Now” segment in the first half and a set-two closing “Ain’t No Bread in the Breadbox,” which alluded back to the “Longtime” debut earlier in the evening.

Night two opened with yet another nod to the passage of time – fan favorite “Past My Prime” – and the band picked up even more steam with a “Bottle Dry”> “Doing My Time”> “Bottle Dry” jam that eventually landed at Pink Floyd’s “Time (Breathe).”

May 15th second half saw the “time” motif return once again with a mid-set take on the Allman Brothers’ Eat A Peach classic “Ain’t Wastin’ Time No More,” which the band followed up with an impassioned version of “Burn Them.”

Later, Greensky Bluegrass closed the run with their own “Leap Year” and an encore of “Before Bring Out Your Dead”> “Bring Out Your Dead.”
