Bob Weir and Phil Lesh made a rare onstage appearance together on Saturday, May 1, jamming for three songs at Lesh’s hometown venue, Terrapin Crossroads.

This marks the first live-audience reunion of any Grateful Dead members since the beginning of the pandemic. Notably, in recent memory, Lesh and Weir joined forces and returned to the Grateful Dead songbook at the historic Fare Thee Well celebration in 2015, at LOCKN’ 2017 and on their 2018, three-city duo tour.

On May 1, Weir joined Lesh and his “Terrapin All-Stars” for openers “St. Stephen,” “Uncle John’s Band” and “Shakedown Street.”

The backing band included Jackie Greene, Grahame Lesh, Jason Crosby and John Molo (the previous evening – sans Weir – also included Elliot Peck).

“Thanks Phil. Always big fun @jackie_greene,” Weir wrote via Twitter a few hours after the show.
