Professional man-of-mystery Orville Peck has joined forces with drag superstar-turned-country-songstress Trixie Mattel for a brand new version of “Jackson,” appearing on Mattel’s brand new cover EP Full Coverage Vol. 1.
“’Jackson!’ A stunning callback to the golden era of country music!” Mattel said via press release. “A time of wigs and rhinestones (thank god) and iconic duets. Orville and I are thrilled to put our spin and flourish on this anthem of American music. Yes, I wore red and not pink, so brave.”
“There’s never been a greater country duo than Johnny Cash and June Carter,” added Peck. “I think ‘Jackson’ has remained iconic through the years because it perfectly captures the humour, storytelling and relationship between performers that every good country song should.”
Stream Full Coverage Vol. 1 via Spotify here – it also features versions of “Video Games” by Lana Del Rey, “Blister in the Sun” by the Violent Femmes and “Believe” by Cher. Mattel’s last album of originals – Barbara – was release in February 2020.
