Umphrey’s McGee drummer Kris Myers has announced that his former band, fusion act Kick the Cat will be performing a livestream tonight, Feb. 11 at 7 p.m. CT via Instrumenthead Live. The show is completely free, but a portion of donations will go to the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund.

“It is with great pleasure that we announce the long-awaited reunion of internationally renowned fusion band Kick the Cat,” Myers said in a press release. “While my attention has been focused on Umphrey’s McGee for the last 18 years, I’ve recently felt inspired to rekindle my first labor of love. This band is all about high energy live performance, and this stream gives us the opportunity to dig into our back catalog as well as some new songs from our upcoming LP Gurgle. We will be playing an unforgettable set of music for 60 hot minutes of diabolical compositions rich in ambient textures and nasty grooves.”

Myers, along with bassist Chris Clemente, guitarist Chris Siebold and keyboardist Vijay Tellis-Nayak, formed Kick the Cat while in college in the late 90s. In 2003, Myers left after he was recruited to play in Umphrey’s. He was temporarily replaced by Tom Hipskind, but is now back in the fold.
