On Dec. 4, The Hold Steady performed the second of three livestreamed shows from Brooklyn Bowl Williamsburg in Williamsburg, N.Y. The show was part of their ‘Massive Nights’ livestream run.

For the show, the band invited Balkman Beat Box’s Peter Hess and Antibalas’ Jordan McLean to sit in on a slew of songs. Both musicians have recorded with The Hold Steady previously.

After a few songs to kick off the first set including a “Constructive Summer” opener, the band brought out the guests for four songs: “Entitlement Crew,” “Cattle and the Creeping Things,” “Sequestered in Memphis” and “Heavy Covenant.” Later, McLean and Hess returned for four more cuts: “Blackout Sam,” “Banging Camp,” “Confusion in the Marketplace” and the run’s namesake song “Massive Nights.” The Hold Steady then closed out the set with a trio of “Your Little Hoodrat Friend,” “Southtown Girls” and “Slapped Actress.”

For the encore, the band opted for “We Can Get Together” and “Stuck Between Stations” before inviting McLean and Hess back out once more. The show closed with “Esther,” “Family Farm” and “Killer Parties.”
