Australian looping artist Tash Sultana performed at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion on Saturday night, for a socially distanced crowd of approximately 1,000.
This marked Sultana’s first show in 276 days and the venue’s first offering in 233.
In addition to socially-distanced measures and required masks, Australia’s overall COVID-19 rates have been relatively low – with approximately 68 active cases nationwide, as opposed to the United States averaging over 4,000 new infections daily.
According to NME, the event is part of a string of concerts organized by the New South Wales Government “designed to revitalise the live music sector following the abrupt stand-still caused by the pandemic.”
“I waited all year patiently for this one night. I rehearsed every single day for months. This room was more than I could have ever dreamed last night, I can’t believe I played a real show with real people this year. Thank you everyone for your energy and genuine love and support. I felt every single one of you and I hope you felt my spirit too,” Sultana wrote afterwards.

Australia Dreamin'
November 29, 2020 at 11:41 amI am not seeing any social distancing. Then again, Australia handled this pandemic responsibly, so they can have nice things like this.
