GarciaLive Vol. 15, the final Jerry Garcia archival release of the year, will feature a May 21, 1971 performance by Jerry Garcia and Merl Saunders. Vol. 15 is due out on Dec. 4. Ahead of its release, Rolling Stone premiered the band’s take on David Crosby’s “The Wall Song” from the upcoming release.
Joining Garcia and Saunders for the show were drummer Bill Vitt and Martin Fierro. Garcia and Saunders’ typical bassist, John Kahn, did not perform on this night, marking one of the few times he didn’t perform with the duo. The show occurred at Keystone Korner in San Francisco, Calif.
In addition to the aforementioned “The Wall Song,” the new released also includes takes on The Band’s “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down,” as well as “Mystery Train,” “That’s Alright, Mama” and “I Was Made to Love Her.”

October 23, 2020 at 10:22 amWow, super early, and no Kahn. From the additional notes on the Garcia site, looks like no bass player and Merl covered with the Hammond pedals. This could be a gem….

October 22, 2020 at 3:28 pmNot sure you’ve got the club right. The Keystone Korner in North Beach didn’t open until ’73. I think this was the Keystone Berkeley, which is where “Live at the Keystone” was recorded. You could have any brand beer you wanted, as long as it was Tuborg. 😉
