Showcasing her namesake solo project, bassist Karina Rykman has dropped a new studio single, dubbed “Dirty South.”

“‘Dirty South’ was written about a year ago in a room with Adam November and Chris Corsico,” Rykman explained in an official statement, noting her two regular bandmates/collaborators. “We originally referred to it as ‘Dirty South Krunk Funk’ but then dropped a few words, and behold, it became ‘Dirty South.’ This has been a staple in our live set for quite some time, and it brings me great joy to finally release it. Engineered and mixed by Todd Carder, and mastered by Alex DeTurk at The Bunker Studio in Williamsburg. This is the second of two tunes we did during our July session, the first being ‘City Kids.’ Dirty South is heavy and funky; blissful and bombastic. May it bring joy during these turbulent times!”

Live music lovers may recognize Rykman from her work on tour with Marco Benevento, as well as her 3 From The 7 podcast alongside Relix associate editor Raffaela Kenny-Cincotta.
