In the new documentary When You Are Wild: A Day in the Life of J. Willis Pratt, Phish drummer Jon Fishman helps chronicle the history of the metal-leaning group J. Willis Pratt & We’re Bionic, who co-mingled with Phish during their collective days at Goddard College.

Recalling the first time he saw the band live, Fishman says, “At that moment, I have to say, I almost dropped to my knees… At that moment I decided, ‘Yeah I’ll play drums with you for the rest of my life.'”

Fishman co-produced Pratt’s early ’90s album Lost Paradox, and – making good on a promise years before – Fishman invited the band to open for Phish on Dec. 12 and 13, 1997 at Albany, NY’s Pepsi Arena (now the Times Union Center).

Fishman has also sat-in with the band periodically through the years.
