On March 10, Guster’s Acoustic Music and Improv tour with Connor Ratliff from Upright Citizen’s Brigade performed at the Belcourt Theatre in Nashville, Tenn.
Prior to the start of the tour, the band said, “Expect us to dig deep into the Guster catalogue and discover songs we don’t usually play at our big rock shows. Expect violins and cellos. Maybe some nights we make up an album on stage. There are no rules on the 2020 Guster Acoustic Tour.” (Quote via their website.)
The Nashville show began with “Keep It Together” from album of the same name. Later on in the set, Joe Pisapia who played with Guster from 2003-2010 and lives in Nashville, sat in on “Well,” a live debut and a b-side from 2010’s Easy Wonderful. (Pisapia had already left by the time the album came out.) He also sat in on “Jonah,” which hadn’t been played since 2011.
The show concluded with “Amsterdam” followed by a three-song encore: “Hard Times,” “Two Points for Honesty” and “This Could All Be Yours.”
