On Monday, Feb. 17, Eric Clapton hosted “A Tribute To Ginger Baker” at London’s Eventim Apollo Hammersmith.

Surprise guests included Clapton and Baker’s Blind Faith bandmate Steve Winwood as well as legendary performers like Roger Waters, Nile Rodgers, Ronnie Wood, Kofi Baker, Kenney Jones, Henry Spinetti and Will Johns.

Ginger Baker passed away on Oct. 6, 2019. He was 80 years old.

According to a press release, the tribute show raised funds for Leonard Cheshire, “a charity close to the Baker family.”

Clapton stayed onstage all night, and kicked off the show in style by inviting Waters to collaborate on Cream originals, “Sunshine of Your Love,” “Strange Brew” and “White Room” (the final of those also featuring Wood of The Rolling Stones and Jones of The Who).

Later, Winwood, Baker and Rogers became a formidable musical unit, joining Clapton for a batch of Blind Faith favorites, namely, “Had To Cry Today,” “Presence of the Lord,” “Well All Right,” “Can’t Find My Way Home” and Baker’s own “Do What You Like.”

The show closed with an encore of “Crossroads” with everyone onstage.
