For this week’s edition of the All The Years Live video series, Grateful Dead HQ is revisiting the band’s July 16, 1990 gig in Orchard Park, NY, with a seven-minute version of the Jerry Garcia-led ballad “High Time.”
“‘High Time’ was played quite a bit in 1969 and 1970, and was one of the many standouts on Workingman’s Dead in 1970 (OK, all eight songs on the album are standouts!),” writes GD archivist/legacy manager David Lemieux. “It was dropped in 1970 until it made its return in 1976, and it was played every year 1976-1995 with the exception of 1978, 1983, and 1989.”
Previously, the pro-shot “Blow Away” from the same show was released for All The Years Live, reflecting on Brent Mydland’s final performance of the signature tune.
