On Jan. 24 and 25, Goose performed two sold-out shows in New York City, the first at the Bowery Ballroom and the second at Music Hall of Williamsburg. The shows were highlighted by Goose’s high-energy jamming and covers of Radiohead, Bill Withers, Kylie Minogue and more.
Jan. 24’s show at the Bowery Ballroom began with “Drive,” which segued into the first cover of the evening, Wes Montgomery’s “Switchin’.” Later in the set, the band delivered a funk-laden cover of Bill Withers’ “Lovely Day.” The set closed with “Honeybee,” which was debuted at Goose’s ‘Goosemas VI’ show this past December.
Set two on Friday night began with “Into The Myst” followed by the rollicking “FloDown.” Next, the band debuted a new original tune, “Bob O. John,” sandwiched between two segments of “Echo of a Rose.” The set closed with “Tumble,” and a cover of Otis Day & The Knights’ “Shama Lama Ding Dong” served as the encore.
On Jan. 25 at Music Hall of Williamsburg, Goose began with two beloved originals: “Yeti” and “Time to Flee.” The improvisational highlight of the set was a monster version of “All I Need,” which preceded Goose’s cover of Radiohead’s “Weird Fishes/Arpeggi.” Prior to the set-closing “So Ready,” the band played “Doc Brown,” which guitarist/keyboardist/vocalist Peter Anspach dedicated to his young nephew who was seeing his first Goose show.
The second frame began with “Arrow,” followed by a cover of The Moody Blues’ “Nights in White Satin.” The original “Creatures” led into another surprise cover, Kylie Minogue’s “Can’t Get You Outta My Head,” followed by “Hot Tea.” The duo of “Jive I” > “Jive Lee” closed the set, and “Turned Clouds” served as the encore.
Anspach and guitarist Rick Mitarotonda recently appeared at the Brooklyn Podcast Festival during which they played a cover of Phish’s “Brian and Robert” with Tom Marshall on vocals. Check out more on their appearance here. The band was also recently announced as a performed at the LOCKN’ Festival.
Goose returns to the stage on Feb. 5 at The Marquee Theatre in Phoenix, Ariz. Check out complete setlist from their New York City shows below!

January 28, 2020 at 8:46 amCant we all just get along? I invite the world to my house for 1 day to listen to my iPod, yes iPod. has 6,569 songs on it. Cant add anymore or delete, can just listen.
ALWAYS on shuffle.
2Pac is the first artist, YMSB the last. In between is everything from tons of Phish, Dead, moe., Panic & DMB shows to Sinatra Claude de Bussy, Neil Young, R.E.M., Steely Dan, eminem, Dr.Dre, Van Halen and tons of bands no one has heard of because I used to get the Relix mag & they had a full list of new artists every month.

January 27, 2020 at 1:34 pmSooooo many kind and folksy music fans these days are somehow threatened by lower tier acts these days.
Are you all just trying to figure out an exit strategy because you’re more comfortable sitting at home watching the TV?
I’m sorry you’re aging out of live music and need to desperately believe that Phish is the ONLY thing going.
If you post the words “derivative” or “hambland” on a regular basis…. you are a fuddy duddy.

January 27, 2020 at 1:16 pmMusic is something I appreciate and prefer not to debate. I saw Goose at Playin in the Sand and have to say they blew my mind. That was my experience and that’s it…nothing I need to evangelize or fight over. Check them out and decide for yourself. I’ll see as much Phish, D&C, Phil, Umphrey’s and others as my schedule will allow.

January 27, 2020 at 12:31 pmAre Goose now managed by Shapiro or something? They are suddenly all over this site. While not as dire as the truly dreadful Twiddle, anyone thinking Goose is going to be the next big thing in the jam world is fooling themselves. Once Phish is gone, it is hard to imagine another jam band carrying that kind of following.
