Umphrey’s McGee has released a new single, “Suxity.” The band had debuted the song at their New Year’s Eve show in Denver, Colo.
“‘Suxity’ is a lesson in simple syncopated, room-to-breathe, funk-grunge,” guitarist and co-writer (with Brendan Bayliss) Jake Cinninger told American Songwriter. “I was looking for a drastic contrast between the verses and the choruses, like Sly Stone dating Alice In Chains. It was one of the more exciting tracks that we have ever cut live in the studio, just grinding, tight and heavy.”
Earlier in December, Umphrey’s released the single “Ride On Pony.” The band also opens their ‘Hindsight Twenty Twenty’ tour this weekend with two shows at the Beacon Theatre on Jan. 17 and 18, as well as a show at Brooklyn Bowl on Jan. 19.
