Rising jam quartet Goose were eager to get down to Mexico for their first-ever Playing in the Sand event, so much so that they performed a special, unannounced set on Tuesday night, setting up shop on Dead & Company’s ocean-side main stage.
The band kicked things off with a cover of The Wood Brothers’ “Atlas” and moved through their own “Doc Brown,” “Butter Rum” and “Jive II.”
Sadly, following “So Ready,” strong winds and heavy rain cut Goose’s set short.
However, the main stage performance was still a high-water mark for the band, who will continue to recruit new fans through the weekend.
Dead & Company will hit the Playing in the Sand main stage on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

January 15, 2020 at 5:33 pmThis is a must-see band. Some friends and I traveled to Colorado in Dec for a 4 show run and it was amazing. Their final show in Steamboat Springs was one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. We just got tickets for the entire west coast tour with Pigeons because it is probably the last time we can see them at small venues! So happy for them.
