On Dec. 28, Yo La Tengo continued their Hanukkah run at New York’s Bowery Ballroom. The show featured an opening set from Snail Mail, a performance by comedian Matt Walsh and a sit-ins from Robyn Hitchcock former Yo La Tengo guitarist Dave Schramm.

YLT’s set began with “Dream Dream Away,” followed by “Cherry Chapstick.” In the middle of the set, the band invited Dave Schramm, who served as Yo La’s lead guitarist in the mid-80s and again in 2015, to perform a quartet of songs: “The Race is On Again,” “Pablo and Andrea,” “Sheason of the Shark” and “From Black to Blue.” After Schramm left the stage, YLT continued with “I’ll Be Around” and later closed the set with “Blue Line Swinger.”

The band invited British singer/songwriter Robyn Hitchcock to join them for the entire five-song encore on guitar and vocals. They began with Bob Dylan’s “Can You Please Crawl Out Your Window.” Next came “Kill Your Sons” by Lou Reed, followed by “Drug Train” by The Cramps. The show ended with a duo of songs by Hitchcock: “I Wanna Destroy You” and “Love.”
