On Nov. 25, Bob Weir made a surprise appearance at Sweetwater Music Hall, sitting in with Lukas Nelson during a benefit for the Music Heals International organization, which provides free music instruction, teacher training and musical instruments to children in need.

In a video captured by Jay Blakesberg, Weir and Nelson sing a loose, nine-minute version of Bob Dylan’s “Desolation Row,” including a couple laughs in between.

“That was the abridged version,” Nelson joked with the crowd afterward.

The pair also offered yet another Dylan tune, “It’s All Over Now, Baby Blue,” before later adding a full band for George Harrison’s “My Sweet Lord.”
