Rising Chicago-based jamband Zoofunkyou has shared a taste of their forthcoming album with a new single called “Steaze.”

“‘Steaze’ was one of the first songs we wrote after [guitarist] Bryan [Scheinkopf] joined the band in late 2016, and it ultimately has come to symbolize a rebirth for our approach to the music we make as Zoofunkyou – which is why we’re so excited to release it to our fans,” said guitarist/vocalist Derek Dare via press release. “The song has been with us the entire time we’ve been on the road so it’s grown with us as we’ve developed a deeper connection to our audience and each other as musicians. Over the many times we’ve performed it on stage, the song has taken on lots of different forms and stylistic changes, but the essence of this recording is a product of countless hours we’ve spent on the road and in our rehearsal space carefully considering our musical choices.”

Zoofunkyou will celebrate the release of their new LP with a hometown show at Chicago’s Chop Shop on Dec. 21.
