New York’s Brooklyn Bowl will host the fifth-annual Bowl Hashanah at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 30. The musically driven Rosh Hashanah morning services will be led by Rabbi Daniel Brenner and Antibalas’ Jordan McLean.

Antibalas guitarist Timothy Allen, keyboardist Derin Oge, drummer John Bollinger, Golem singer Aaron Diskin and Hydra singer Yula Beeri will perform with McLean throughout the morning. The holiday celebration will include a torah reading and procession lead by Rabbi Brenner and Eisenberg, plain-sense explanations of the religious aspects of the holiday, morning prayers, the traditional shofar blowing and a guided meditation led by Sydney Faith Rose of Dharma Punx.

Immediately following the Rosh Hashanah services, Armo, an Antibalas project featuring McLean, Antibalas singer Amayo, Antibalas percussionist percussionist/vocalist Marcus Farrar, Antibalas drummer Kevin Raczka, Toubab Krewe bassist Justin Kimmel and others will perform a special set. The spiritually driven combo grew out of The Friday Night Jam speaking series tied to Bowl Hashanah.

A vegetarian/dairy lunch from Blue Ribbon is included in the event’s ticket price. Bowl Hashanah is part of a suite of musical High Holiday services.
