Grateful Dead Inc. has shared yet another archival pro-shot video, as part of their “All The Years Live” video series.
This week, we’re headed back to the band’s classic 12/31/78 Winterland gig with a killer “Not Fade Away” featuring a sit-in by Quicksilver Messenger Service guitarist John Cipollina as well as skilled harmonica player Lee Oskar.
Explains GD legacy manager/archivist David Lemieux, “Another gem from the Classic Closing Of Winterland show, this rendition of ‘Not Fade Away’ is long, powerful, and fun, filled with terrific solos, special guests, and inspired playing, despite the very late hour of the performance. Followed by another rocker, Around and Around, the Dead would leave enough gas in the tank to later play a third set that featured Dark Star, St. Stephen, and much more.”
