On Saturday night, The String Cheese Incident settled in to their weekend run at Red Rocks by inviting old pal Keller Williams to recreate their 1999 LP Breathe.

As expected the first set consisted exclusively of Breathe cuts, complete with Jamie Janover adding dulcimer to the title track, as he did on the studio version.

“Thank you @sci_official for an epic night,” Williams wrote afterwards via Instagram.

For the second set – after SCI associate Jack Mento greeted the crowd – the band launched into “You’ve Got The World,” laced with an inter-galactic keytar solo by Kyle Hollingsworth. A nice pairing of “Rhythm of the Road”> “I Know You Rider” followed and the second set was rounded out by a stand-alone “Sirens” as well as a three- part “Sand Dollar”> “Rollover”> “Colliding” segment.

Interestingly, SCI took a similar route as the Disco Biscuits’ Camp Bisco celebration for their final set on Saturday, building a space-themed songlist to honor the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. They opened with “All We Got” and “Colorado Bluebird Sky,” and later welcomed the “Horns Bruceby” brass section to amplify a “Jellyfish” jam that eventually bled into cosmic covers of the Close Encounters theme as well as music from Star Wars, Star Trek and 2001: A Space Odyssey. One last return to “Rollover” ended the show on a high note, so much so that the band opted to leave the stage without an encore.
