Little Feat’s 50th anniversary tour stopped by New York City’s famed Beacon Theatre on Friday night with plenty of collaborations with special guests like Warren Haynes as well as members 0f the opening Midnight Ramble Band.

The evening kicked off with Little Feat favorite “Rocket in my Pocket” and touched on other rockers like “Oh Atlanta,” before the band eventually welcomed their first guest – Larry Campbell of the Midnight Ramble Band – to play fiddle on “Rooster Rag,” “Don’t Bogart That Joint” and Lefty Frizzell’s “Long Black Veil.”

Campbell then called out to his bandmates Brian Mitchell (accordian) and Lou Marini (saxophone) to play on a cover of The Band’s “Rag Mama Rag.”

Things cooled down for a second as Little Feat played a stand alone version of late frontman Lowell George’s “Honest Man,” but it wasn’t long before perhaps the evening’s most surprising guest hit the stage.

The evening hit its high point when Warren Haynes added guitar and provided vocals on versions of “Spanish Moon” and “Dixie Chicken.”

After the band thanked Haynes and the crowd eventually quelled their cheers, the evening closed with Little Feat performing yet another classic, “Tripe Face Boogie.”
