Bob Weir & Wolf Bros took the stage at Cleveland’s Masonic Auditorium a little after 7:20 p.m. on Monday night, offering fans two full sets of Grateful Dead favorites as well as the band’s first-ever cover of mid-’50s Little Willie John favorite “Fever.”

The show started strong with one of Weir’s favorites from the Dead repertoire – “Cassidy” – and moved through his Blue Mountain cut “Gonesville” as well as traditional ditty “Deep Elem Blues.”

Weir then led bassist Don Was and percussionist Jay Lane on a pairing of “Even So”> “October Queen,” both previously heard on his 2000 solo album “Evening Moods.”

The band closed the first half with three Grateful Dead stand-bys, “Looks Like Rain,” “Little Red Rooster” and “Deal.”

And while the second set may have started with a few stand-alone numbers – “Me & Bobby McGee,” “Odessa,” “Althea” – it was the comprehensive “Dark Star” jam that impressed many gathered at the Ohio venue. After initiating the classic Dead composition, Weir and company eventually found their way in and out of the Bob Dylan-penned “All Along The Watchtower.” The second version of “Dark Star” picked up some speed with a segue into “Truckin'” and, in turn, bled into the aforementioned “Fever” debut. (It’s worth noting that while this is Bob Weir & Wolf Bros first version of the tune, it was a regular cover for Weir during his shows with Rob Wasserman as well as Ratdog. It was most recently played by Ratdog on March 8, 2014. It was only played once by the Grateful Dead, on 9/13/87 in Landover, Maryland).

The multi-song jam found its final resting place in an emotional “Stella Blue,” and the band ended the show on a high note with a rousing “US Blues.” They encored with another Dylan tune, “It’s All Over Now Baby Blue.”
