“I’ve wanted to say this for a long time,” Spafford guitarist Brian Moss told the crowd at The Agora Ballroom at the start of their Tuesday-night gig. “Hello Cleveland!”

After that brief nod to Spinal Tap, the quartet got down to business, tearing into a three-song set one. They started off with the instrumental “Funkadelic” that clocked in at a smooth 25 minutes and segued nicely into “Walls.” The “Walls” jam – which also clocked-in well over 25 minutes – provided a more dance-oriented vibe, allowing both Moss and keyboardist Red Johnson to flex their solo skills.

From there, Spafford took a quick pause – allowing for the first applause break of the evening – and then ended their three-song set with a straightforward “Eternity,” allowing bassist Jordan Fairless to take over vocal duties.

Set two kicked off with a rocking “All In,” followed by a three-part “All My Friends”> “Bee Jam”> “Windmill” segment that surely pleased every “Spaffnerd” in attendance.

The quartet closed the show with their first “Lonely” of winter tour, and encored with a high-energy “Ain’t That Wrong.”
