Tim Lefebvre has officially announced his departure from Tedeschi Trucks Band. The bassist, who has worked with David Bowie, Wayne Krantz, Sting, Elvis Costello and many others, officially joined TTB in 2013. Brandon Boone will play bass with the ensemble on their upcoming winter dates. The Atlanta-based, Augusta, GA-bred musician has performed with TTB associates Col. Bruce Hampton, Jimmy Herring and Yonrico Scott, as well as TTB member Kebbi Williams, .
A note posted on TTB’s Facebook page explains:
After 5 great years with the band, Tim Lefebvre will be moving on. The intense TTB tour schedule leaves little time for other gigs and Tim feels like it’s time to free up his schedule so he can spend more time producing and playing on a variety of different projects. We enjoyed a terrific musical camaraderie with Tim, and as the band continues to evolve we wish him the best. Bassist Brandon Boone will be joining us for our shows in January and February. We welcome his talent and energy as we start the new year!
Derek Trucks’ Allman Brothers Band cohort Oteil Burbridge served as Tedeschi Trucks Band’s original bassist. After he left the group to spend more time with his family and work on other projects, a few guest bassists filled in until Lefebvre signed on.

April 11, 2019 at 6:27 pmWas pretty surprised by the silly comments on this thread. I don’t think of this site as a big troll spot, but you never know I guess.
Tim is a monster bassist with capabilities far beyond what he could exhibit with TTB. I was totally bummed when Oteil left, but Tim was a fantastic replacement. I saw Tim at a gig in New Orleans at Jazzfest in a small club and he blew my mind playing in a rhythm section with Makaya Macreven. I’m sure they’ll do just fine as many people would love the gig, but it’s not a small loss.

December 27, 2018 at 9:56 ambest of luck to Tim. He definitely was apart of the show… hope the next guy in line can bring it.. but if he’s good enough for Susan and Derek then he’s good enough for us real fans. Tim will be missed but its not the end of the band.

December 25, 2018 at 11:11 pmAnyone that knows about this story is not surprised. He already dug seeds of other projects that are starting to grow and it’s time to move on to those(sadly).
Also with his varied musical past it’s not surprising to see him try another direction. He is very far from being easily replaced and being kicked to the curb.
Tim is a huge loss and there is no way Susan was sleeping with him in a million years. Obviously just saying that negates anything you would have to say bc it’s so off the wall.
Karl, did noone notice when Oteil left? It’s the people that do notice are the ones that listen.
I wash crushed when Oteil left but I’m so happy so see his flourish and it will probably be the same again with Tim. I wish him the best.

December 24, 2018 at 8:44 pmWhat unknown bassist takes and then gives away a gig like this? Sure lots of time in the road, which I know is very tough, but this is the kinda of gig most musicians dream of. Wish him all the best but I suspect there’s more to the story.

December 24, 2018 at 10:09 pmHe is hardly “unknown”. He was on the last Bowie album and is an in demand player. I was surprised that he ever joined TTB (who I am a huge fan of) as he is not really known to play the type of music that they play. He has worked with a wide range of musicians, including Bowie, Elvis Costello, Sting, Empire of the Sun, The Sleepy Jackson, Wayne Krantz, Patti Austin, John Mayer, Jovanotti, Chuck Loeb, Mark Guiliana, Jamie Cullum, Chris Botti, and Knower. He has performed on film and television soundtracks, including Ocean’s Twelve, The Departed, Analyze That, The Sopranos, and 30 Rock.
