The New Orleans Klezmer Allstars have scheduled a Hanukkah double header for Friday, December 7. In the afternoon, the Big Easy-based outfit will perform at Baton Rouge, LA’s Congregation Bnai Israel and, later that night, the ensemble will return home for a show at New Orleans’ d.b.a. The core lineup of Glenn Hartman, Jonathan Freilich, Joe Cabral and Trombone Shorty collaborator Dan Oestreicher will play both events, with Doug Garrison on drums for the afternoon synagogue show. Then, at d.b.a., Galactic drummer Stanton Moore and Galactic saxophonist Ben Ellman will swap in for Garrison. Before Ellman joined Galactic, Moore and Ellman first crossed paths as members of the Klezmer Allstars.
