On Friday, Nov. 16, Greensky Bluegrass offered some musical references to Phish and welcomed Nicki Bluhm for the encore at Stubb’s BBQ in Austin, Tx.

After a first half that was bookended by originals “All Four” and “Windshield,” GSBG kicked things into high gear in set two with an epic “Can’t Stop Now” jam. The band warmed up with “When I Get My Hands On You” and “Cold Feet,” but by the time they jumped into the New Grass Revival classic, they had quotes/teases from Phish tunes “Run Like An Antelope,” “Makisupa Policeman” and “Down With Disease” ready to go.

The Phish love continued in the following “For Sure Uh Huh,” as the quintet carried over pieces of “Makisupa Policeman” into the jam.

From there, Greensky Bluegrass offered the New Barns arrangement of “Old Barns” as well as a nice “Exhuberance”> “War Pigs” segment.

Later, the band closed with a “Jaywalking”> “Leap Year” jam, the latter containing teases of Parliament’s “Give Up The Funk.”

They encored with the classic hymnal “Will The Circle Be Unbroken,” featuring Nicki Bluhm on vocals.
