Star Kitchen, a new band led by The Disco Biscuits bassist Marc Brownstein, made their debut on Thursday night in Washington, DC, with a show at Gypsy Sally’s. Along with regular members Brownstein, drummer Marlon Lewis, keyboardist Rob Marscher and guitarist Danny Mayer, the evening featured special guest guitarist Eddie Roberts of The New Mastersounds.

Throughout the night, Roberts joined in on covers of James Brown’s “Soul Power,” Kool & The Gang’s “Let the Music Take Your Mind” and Grant Green’s “Jan Jan,” which served as the night’s encore.

Below, watch a clip of the band’s final practice before they headed out on tour, along with their upcoming shows this weekend, which will include special guests like Robert Randolph, saxophonist James Casey, Eric Krasno, and Snarky Puppy horn players Chris Bullock and Mike “Maz” Maher.
