Technical guitar wiz Steve Vai will lead a group of musicians in a 52-hour “jamathon” to benefit Extraordinary Families, an nonprofit organization that benefits Los Angeles youth in foster care.

The event – billed as The Big Mama Jama Jamathon – will take place at Hollywood’s Live House and start promptly at 12 Noon on Friday Sept. 28. The improvised jam will continue through Sunday Sept. 30 at 4 p.m.

In addition to musicians like Dweezil Zappa and Vai’s longtime collaborator, keyboardist Michael Arrom, ticket buyers are also invited to reserve a 10-minute slot onstage to perform with the rotating cast of musicians.

For a full schedule, more information and ticketing options visit the Jamathon’s official website.
