Following the news that Allman Brothers co-founder Dickey Betts had experienced a mild stroke his manager David Spero has shared an update on the guitarist’s condition.

“Dickey is responding very well to treatment and is very encouraged by the results,” Spero writes. “He was overwhelmed by the good wishes and prayers sent his way.”

Although Betts was forced to cancel three shows – Great New York State Fair in Syracuse, NY on Aug. 28, the Oakdale Theatre in Wallingford, CT on Aug. 30, and the Casino Ballroom in Hampton Beach, NH, on Aug. 31 – he will return to the stage on Nov. 1 at the Bell Auditorium in Augusta, Ga.
