Last night at his Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley, CA, Bob Weir reunited the members of his old band RatDog in memory of the late bassist Rob Wasserman, who was a longtime member of the group and passed away earlier this summer.

The event marked the first time that guitarist Mark Karan and saxophonist Dave Ellis had played together in years. Both Karan and Ellis joined RatDog in the late ’90s, with Ellis leaving in 1999 and Karan staying on until 2012. As JamBase reports, other former RatDog musicians contributing to last night’s tribute included Steve Kimock, Robin Sylvester, Jeff Chimenti and Jay Lane, along with guests in Lukas Nelson and DJ Logic. Warren Haynes brought Gov’t Mule around for the night as well after their show in Ronhert Park, CA.

Songs played on the night by RatDog included Grateful Dead staples like “Friend of the Devil” and “West L.A. Fadeway,” along with Bob Dylan tunes like “A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall” and “I Shall Be Released.” Gov’t Mule’s portion of the show, which also included members of RatDog, featured songs like Traffic’s “Low Spark Of High-Heeled Boys” and The Doors’ “Riders On The Storm.”
