Widespread Panic’s John Bell and Bloodkin’s Daniel Hutchens are among the guests who appear on Southern Angels, the debut album from Sam Holt Band. In addition to a set of originals, the seven-song album features Stoney La Rue/Brandon Jenkins’
“Down In Flames,” The Marshall Tucker Band’s arrangement of Toy Caldwell’s “Cattle Drive” and the Holt/Hutchens collaborations “Fix It Up Man.” Holt was the longtime guitar tech. for Widespread Panic’s Michael Houser, and he played lead guitar in the band himself before Jimmy Herring officially joined Panic.

Sam Holt Band will host a CD release party at Denver’s Cervantes’ Other Side on December 22. Meanwhile, Holt and
Sam Holt Band’s Adam Stern will continue their regular Wednesday night acoustic gig at Boulder, CO’s Moe’s BBQ as part of the venue/restaurant’s Widespread Wednesdays.
