Electron Returns

Fans who stayed for Conspirator’s late night show at New York’s Highline Ballroom, following the Disco Biscuits’ performance that the same venue, were rewarded for their stamina with a handful of special guests. First, Marc Brownstein and Aron Magner’s fellow Disco Biscuit Jon Gutwillig emerged for a brief jam about forty minutes into the group’s set. Soon after, Brownstein and Magner’s Electron bandmates, Tom Hamilton and Joe Russo, took the stage for a run through the Conspirator song ‘Orch Theme.’ The early morning spot marked the first appearance by Electron since the 2006 edition of Langerado. The Disco Biscuits will perform again tonight at New York’s Highline Ballroom, while Conspirator is slated to open for Sound Tribe Sector 9 at Philadelphia’s Electric Factory tomorrow.

ALO Receives A Little Help From New Monsoon

On Wednesday night in Minneapolis, New Monsoon and ALO offered a taste of what is to come when they shared the bill at the Cabooze. At the close of ALOs set at the Minneapolis venue, both bands took the stage for a version of the Beatles’ ‘With a Little Help From My Friends. Additional interplay can be expected in early August when the groups will appear together over four dates. ALO and NM will travel from Vancouver (Richards on Richards, August 1) to Bellingham, WA (The Nightlight, August 2) to Seattle (Neumos, August 3) an on to Bend, Oregon where both bands will appear at the Four Peaks Music Festival. This evening, New Monsoon is at Shank Hall in Milwaukee, while ALO is in Chillicothe, IL at Summer Camp.

Lyrics Born, Boots Riley, Chali 2na, Gift of Gab Will Travel with Galactic From The Corner To The Block (and On To Bonnaroo)

The much-anticipated forthcoming Galactic studio recording will finally see the light of day on August 21. The band is joined by a range of MC’s on From The Corner To The Block, including: Boots Riley (The Coup), Lyrics Born, Chali 2na (Jurassic 5) and Blackaliciouss Mr. Lif and Gift of Gab. All of these guest artists are slated to participate in Galactics late night set at Bonnaroo, which is scheduled to begin at midnight on Saturday June 16. This weekend Galactic will perform at another festival, with a Sunday appearance at Summer Camp.

Comotion Trio To Join EO for the Village Building Convergence This Weekend

Back in 2000, the all-star Comotion collective issued its Head West disc. Three of its members will take the stage together on Saturday along with the Everyone Orchestra, as Michael Kang, Tye North and Darol Anger are part of the line-up for a show at Portland, OR’s Disjecta Gallery. This show also will serve as a fundraiser for the City Repair Project, an ‘all-volunteer grassroots organization helping people reclaim their urban spaces to create community-oriented places.

Beyond that the EO will next appear at the Wakarusa Music & Camping Festival, which is set to take place on June 710 in Lawrence, Kansas. There founder/conductor Matt Butler will be joined by ALO as well as members of Railroad Earth, Delta Nove, BoomBox and New Monsoon. Then it will be Salem, Oregons Emrg+N+See, the following weekend, with Jamie Janover, Aaron Holstein, Asher Fulero and Julian Fritz among the artists set to participate.
