Scott Sharrard is best known as the lead guitarist of the Gregg Allman Band, but Scott’s also a songwriter and singer who’s been at it for more than three decades. Born and raised in Michigan, he and his original bandmates, the Chesterfields, settled in New York and garnered critical praise by performing tirelessly and releasing three studio albums.

Scott also recorded three solo albums between 2005 and 2009 before landing the Gregg Allman gig. Appearing at Brooklyn Bowl in mid-March, Scott performed several songs from Saving Grace, his soon-to-be-released album with the Brickyard Band. In addition to original songs including “Love Like Kerosene” and “Put Your Soul Records On,” the band covered “Whole Lotta Love” with a detour into the Allmans’ “Mountain Jam.”

Just days before Scott’s Brooklyn Bowl show, Gregg Allman announced the cancellation of his 2017 tour. We all wish Gregg well and hope he’ll be back on the road soon. Until then, Scott frequently appears Thursday nights when he’s in town at Bar Chord in Brooklyn’s Ditmas Park.
