Grahame Lesh has emerged as a premier torchbearer of the Grateful Dead’s genre-defying style and collaborative spirit. With his Grahame Lesh & Friends format, the guitarist and bandleader has spearheaded all-star celebrations of the legacy left by his father and his bandmates, renewing the music through unforgettable performances like Unbroken Chain at The Capitol Theatre, The Heart of Town at Pier 48 and the recent Howling Wolves tribute to Bob Weir at The Warfield. Now, Lesh has announced his plans to take his talents to the Crescent City for a very special two-night series.
On April 28 and 29, Grahame Lesh & Friends will assume the spotlight at New Orleans’ famed Joy Theater for a Dead celebration steeped in the city’s signature sound. For night one in NOLA, Lesh will enlist support from cosmic country axeman Daniel Donato, storied Dead & Company bassist Oteil Burbridge, drummer and longtime Phil Lesh collaborator John Molo, The Disco Biscuits keyboardist Aron Magner, Galactic vocalist Kanika Moore and the esteemed Preservation Hall Horns, with a special guest spot from Little Feat’s Bill Payne. On night two, Lesh, Donato, Molo, Moore and the Preservation Hall Horns will be joined by Eggy guitarist Jake Brownstein, former Snarky Puppy keyboardist Cory Henry and special guest Ivan Neville of Dumpstaphunk.
Tickets for Grahame Lesh & Friends’ Joy Theatre shows will open to a Relix exclusive presale on Thursday, Jan. 29, at 10 a.m. CT with code RELIX. Remaining tickets will be released in a general on-sale on Fri, Jan 30 at 10 a.m. CT. Find more information here.
