Craig Finn will return to his longtime home of New York City in two weeks for a highly anticipated three-night residency at Brooklyn’s Union Pool. The celebrated singer-songwriter and The Hold Steady frontman’s program at the local favorite Williamsburg venue is billed as Craig Finn & Friends, and with his initial announcement last November, the artist forecasted lots of surprises and varied setlists, writing, “You might be able to guess some guests, you might be surprised at others. You’ll have to come to the show to find out!”
As anticipation for the series mounts, Finn has shed some light on the first night’s cast of high-profile accompanists. For night one, he’ll be backed by longtime collaborators like super-producer and Bonny Light Horseman member Josh Kaufman, singer-songwriter and Kaufman’s partner Annie Nero, Brooklyn scene veteran multi-instrumentalist Stuart Bogie, The Walkmen co-founder and multi-instrumentalist Walter Martin and esteemed jam drummer and bandleader Joe Russo. Kaufman, who also joined Finn’s People of Substance Band with Russo for the Always Been release show last May, will put together the evening’s setlist.
Finn’s Union Pool residency falls between four more dates in Germany, Ireland and the United Kingdom with his Band of Forgiveness and another 11-show European run supporting The Mountain Goats. Find tickets and more information on Finn’s full live itinerary at craigfinn.net.
