Umphrey’s McGee returned to Isle of Palms, SC’s Windjammer to close out a two-night run last night. As previously reported, drummer Scotty Zwang is filling in behind the kit for the majority of the Midwest-bred group’s 2025 tour after Kris Myers announced his decision to leave Umphrey’s McGee after 22 years.
The Windjammer is located near bassist Ryan Stasik’s home and, during last night’s first set, the members of Umphrey’s McGee brought out Kanika Moore to sing on a debut cover of Neil Young’s “Harvest Moon.” Moore, who also lives in the area, was a member of Stasik’s Doom Flamingo side-project before the ensemble went on hiatus at the end of last year. Also of note, last night’s second set was a nearly seamless offering. The musicians began with a run from “Bridgeless” into “Cemetery Walk” and “Cemetery Walk II.” They paused briefly and then closed with another sequence that moved from “Women Wine and Song” into “Escape Goat” and “40’s Theme.”
Umphrey’s McGee will perform at Wilmington, NC’s Greenfield Lake Amphitheater this evening.
