On April 4, Craig Finn will release his eagerly anticipated sixth solo studio album Always Been via Tarmac Recordings/Thirty Tigers. To celebrate the arrival of his first independent full-length since 2022’s A Legacy of Rentals, the singer-songwriter and The Hold Steady frontman has announced a special all-star release show in New York.
Staging at the Bowery Ballroom on May 30, the exclusive event will figure Finn alongside a top-tier ensemble of collaborators, including album producer Adam Granduciel and his The War On Drugs bandmates like keyboardist Robbie Bennett and bassist Dave Hartley, who provide instrumental backing across the project. Other contributors to the People of Substance Band, termed for Always Been’s exceptional lead single, include distinguished artists as Bonnie Light Horseman multi-instrumentalist and producer Josh Kaufman, storied session saxophonist Nelson Devereaux, folk singer-songwriter Kathleen Edwards and drummer and jam scene favorite Joe Russo.
“I’m absolutely thrilled to be taking the stage with this very special one-night-only band,” Finn shared in a release. “I’m extremely proud of Always Been, and it’s an honor to celebrate its release with the people who helped me make it as well as old friends. It’s an electric mix of people and it’s going to be a great night.”
Tickets for Finn’s star-studded release show are available through an artist presale now with code SUBSTANCE. A general on-sale will follow this Friday, March 14 at 10 a.m. ET. Before this culminating moment, Finn will join Hüsker Dü’s Bob Mould on a 13-stop tour throughout the West Coast, Mountain region and Midwest.
