Neal Francis has embraced the collaborative spirit of the Dead Ahead destination event currently taking place at the Moon Palace Hotel in Cancún, Mexico. The musician, who recently announced the release of his third LP, Return to Zero, had two scheduled gigs at the Dead Ahead event. On Thursday, he welcomed fellow rising stat Grace Bowers for his original “How Have I Lived” from his 2019 set Changes. Francis and his combo also performed on Friday and, during their late-night show, they invited Joe Russo’s Almost Dead guitarist and solo artist Tom Hamilton out for “This Time,” another tune from Changes.
Hamilton kept the sit ins rolling during his own late-night show yestersat by augmenting his group with the Trey Anastasio Band horn section of Jen Hartswick and Natalie Cressman.
Dead Ahead will continue today with a two-set show from Dead Ahead and a pool performance by Joy Oladokun.
