New York’s Brooklyn Bowl has shared further details regarding upcoming events, Erev Rosh Hashanah Service and New Year’s Jam, slated for Wednesday, October 2, 7:30-9:45 pm, and the follow-up Rosh Hashanah Morning Service and Luncheon, on Thursday, October 3, 10 am till 1 pm. As a follow-up to the initial event announcement, musical guests have been added to the aforementioned events.
Wednesday’s Erev Rosh Hashanah Service and New Year’s Jam will include musical guests, including Patti Smith guitarist Lenny Kaye, singer/songwriter Leslie Mendelson, Jerry Garcia Acoustic Band fiddler Kenny Kosek, keyboardist Craig Greenberg, and drummers Ben Atkind and Armo. The artists will join an already announced accompaniment from Jeremiah Lockwood, Isaac Garnder, John Bollinger, Jordan McLean, Stuart Bogie, Yula Beeri, Yusuke Yamamoto, and a traditional service led by Rabbi Daniel Brenner.
Thursday’s ensuing gathering will bring together Ben Atkind, Yoel Kohn, Bryan Grone, and Marc Lowenstein as added instrumental help. In addition to music, which functions as a centerpiece of the Rosh Hashanah celebration at Brooklyn Bowl, Rabbi Brenner will deliver a Torah reading, prayers, plain-sense explanations of the holiday’s religious aspects, a Shofar blowing, and meditation.
