On August 9, Maggie Rogers stopped by Rockefeller Plaza for the latest offering in the exclusive Citi Concert Series. Marking her second appearance on the coveted morning slot, the Maryland-born singer-songwriter delivered a buoyant and grounded performance in support of her most recent record, Don’t Forget Me. Between songs, Rogers also spoke to the anchors about the April release and tour of the same name, even surprising one fan with tickets in a nod to her ongoing commitment to in-person ticketing as a way to circumvent bots.
After kicking off the whirlwind set with a dance-heavy rendition of 2024’s “The Kill,” Rogers pirouetted into a version of “Don’t Forget Me” that brought even more heat to the sunlit plaza. As she moved through the title track, the camera panned to enthusiastic fans singing the lyrics back to her, promising to savor the electric staging. To close out the Friday affair, Rogers expressed her gratitude with a glittering showing of 2019’s “Love You For A Long Time.” For those in attendance, reveling in the morning magic, the lyrics of the anthemic single rang truer than ever: “And in the mornin’ when I’m wakin’ up / I swear that you’re the first thing that I’m thinkin’ of / I feel it in my body, know it in my mind, oh, I / I’m gonna love you for a long time.”
Later this week, Rogers is set to join Coldplay in Munich, Vienna and Dublin as the pioneering pop-rock group continues on the Music of the Spheres tour. Then, on Sept. 4 and 5, the self-proclaimed ‘witchy feminist rockstar’ is slated for a double header at London’s Hackney Empire before returning to North America this fall for the second leg of the Don’t Forget Me tour, which begins on Oct. 9 at the Moody Center in Austin, Texas alongside Ryan Beatty. Further stops across the country on Rogers’ first headlining arena tour include Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, Boston’s TD Garden and two nights at New York’s Madison Square Garden.
