Concerts have long felt like a place of community, where folks of like-minded musical interests can come together to support their favorite band or artist. Yet, in our ever-changing world, safety concerns have become a factor in that experience, like Taylor Swift and her following, after two suspects were arrested in connection to a terror plot against the pop princess. As a result, Swift’s three-night stand in Vienna, Austria, Aug. 8-10 has been canceled.

According to reports, two suspects are in police custody in connection to the alleged terror plot against the musician and her impending Eras Tour stops. Authorities responded to the claims, causing a ricochet in comments, including words from Barracuda Music, “We have no choice but to cancel the three scheduled shows for everyone’s safety.” They continued, “All tickets will be automatically refunded.” See the social post below.

Prior to Swift’s pick-up of European dates, U.S. intelligence detected the potential threat to the proper channels, alerting Austrian authorities and various law enforcement agencies of what could have been. Associated fear stems from one of the suspect’s pledges to extremist groups via messaging apps and Telegrams, which date to early July.

While the threat is under control and concerts canceled, Swift’s stand in Vienna would have pulled a crowd of more than 65,000 per day. Authorities also noted that in addition to ticket holders, the songstress’ fan base adds 10,000-15,000 outside the arena.

Following a shift in the tour trajectory, Swift will take the weekend off ahead of her multi-night London stand. For more information, visit her website.
