Grace Potter has tacked on a last-minute tour date that will double as an opportunity to celebrate Brooklyn Bowl’s 15 anniversary. The artist, who is currently on the road in support of her fifth solo album, Mother Road, announced that she will perform at the venerable Brooklyn, N.Y. venue on Thursday, August 8.
The newly dropped Big Apple appearance lands amid already announced concerts, including a warm-up on Wednesday, August 7, at Freeman Arts Pavilion in Selbyville, Del., and, on the other side of the Brooklyn Bowl celebration, an August 9 gig at Canoe Palace Inn in Hampton Bays, N.Y.
Brooklyn Bowl New York opened its doors in 2009, representing Peter Shapiro’s continued legacy as a lauded venue owner following the success of Wetlands Preserve (which closed in 2001). Shapiro added to the festival landscape in 2013 with the inaugural Lockn’, welcoming Potter as a guest, amongst other jam industry favorites: Col. Bruce Hampton & Friends, Further, Gov’t Mule and more.
Before the onset of Lockn’, Shapiro also expanded his empire Upstate, in Port Chester, N.Y., where he reopened the historic Capitol Theatre in 2012. During the concert to mark the venue’s second chapter, Potter served as a musical guest, adding another notch to her expansive count of Shapiro-adjacent career moves.
Tickets for Potter’s stand at Brooklyn Bowl on Aug. 8, in celebration of the venue’s 15th anniversary, go on sale tomorrow, Tuesday, July 30, at noon E.T.
