Celebrating summer’s arrival, Playland has officially announced the Summer Sounds Concert Series, a first-time collaboration with The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, N.Y. From July to September, the legendary “Original Rock Palace” will bring 10 nights of family-friendly live music and entertainment to Rye, N.Y.’s beachfront destination and historic amusement park, setting off a new chapter for two regional treasures. With a focus on familiar favorites from top-tier tribute acts, Summer Sounds will salute Bon Jovi, the Grateful Dead, Tom Petty and more, plus a run of special shows for kids.

On the new partnership, Playland CEO Evonne Keeler offers in a release, “We are thrilled to be partnering with The Capitol Theatre to bring live musical performances that visitors from all generations can enjoy and appreciate. This collaboration is just one of the ways that Playland is working to grow its reach within the community through new and robust arts and culture programming. In addition to our diverse range of attractions, from the iconic amusement park to the beach and pool, arcade, dining locations, and more, Playland is constantly working to expand its offerings as part of our vision of being a place for exploration, culture and community.”

The Summer Sounds Concert Series will begin next Saturday, July 6, with a presentation of 1 Wild Night – A Bon Jovi Tribute. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. on Playland’s main stage; visitors can find further covers sets at the same time and place on alternate Saturdays through the summer’s end. Shows to follow include Jacknife Lori – 90’s Alt Rock Hits, Half Step – Grateful Dead Tribute, Damn The Torpedoes – Tom Petty Concert Experience and Taylor’s Version – A Swiftie Dance Party–a classic event from the Cap.

On Sunday, July 7–and every other Sunday through Sept. 1–at 2 p.m., attendees seeking family-oriented fun can enjoy shows from The Rock and Roll Playhouse, which brings the spirit of The Capitol Theatre’s longstanding rock credentials to listeners of the next generation. Translating the biggest hits from music’s biggest names into age-appropriate sing-alongs, The Rock and Roll Playhouse introduces kids to classic rock, new-wave, pop-punk and more through engaging family experiences. At Playland, families can expect favorites from Queen, Talking Heads, Taylor Swift, Blink 182, The Beatles and more.
