This December, Jesse Malin will return to New York’s Beacon Theatre for a triumphant comeback show. Hosted by Michael Imperioli and Mary-Louise Parker with support from WFUV, the Dec. 1 affair will feature performances from Lucinda Williams, Jakob Dylan, Rickie Lee Jones, J Mascis, Adam and David Immy (Counting Crows), Butch Walker and Alejandro Escovedo, with more special guests to be revealed. All proceeds from Malin’s largest hometown show to date and long-awaited return to the stage will benefit the Jesse Malin Sweet Relief Artist Fund and Malin’s own recovery from a May 2023 spinal stroke.

This news follows the announcement of Silver Patron Saints: The Songs of Jesse Malin, a tribute LP of Malin’s music, and the release of lead single “Prisoners of Paradise” from Jack Antonoff-fronted indie-rock outfit Bleachers. Set to release on Sept. 20 via Glassnote Records, the album’s stacked cast includes Bruce Springsteen, Lucinda Williams, Elvis Costello, Billie Joe Armstrong, Susanna Hoffs, Spoon, Agnostic Front, Dinosaur Jr., The Hold Steady and more. Just like the comeback event, all proceeds from the LP will go to the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund.

Malin’s P.M.A., or “positive mental attitude,” has yet to falter in his 40-year career, and now, more than ever, his resilience is clear. The benefit event and LP are a testament to this persistence; though this marks Malin’s first performance since his stroke, he plans to play a full set with his longtime band. “As always in my songs, the themes are all there–transcendence, positivity and global unity through music,” Malin says. “This is what I love to do, and I’m going to do everything I can to keep doing it.” Click here to donate to Malin’s Sweet Relief Musicians Fund.
