Last night, Electric Forest commenced in Rothbury, Mich., with performances from Everything’s Alright, featuring Dom Dolla and John Summit, Nelly Furtado, Ben Böhmer, Knock2, and jam scene favorite The Disco Biscuits. The latter band treated their festival audience to a special display, performing a first-time original and debuting a cover during the single-set stand.
Noodling into their set, Bisco jammed to start off their stage time, adding samples of Imogen Heap’s “Hide and Seek,” which ran over into the first full-formed song of the night, “The Deal.” The previously played number formed “I-Man” was left unfinished in favor of “Orch Theme.” Keeping with the segued format for which the band is known, they paired “Dino Baby” with the night’s original debut, dubbed “In The End We Have Forever.”
An inverted “Fire Will Exchange” met the final song of their June 20 festival frame, “Hide And Seek,” another first-time entry into the Disco Biscuits songbook of revered covers–an Imogen Heap first. Looking ahead, the band will put on their annual Biscoland experience, July 4 through 6, in Lafayette, N.Y., prior to additional stops throughout the summer months.
