Joe Russo’s Almost Dead have tacked on a pair of New York City concerts. In what is shaping to be their annual summertime tradition, the Grateful Dead tribute act will return to The Rooftop at Pier 17 on Sept. 6 and 7. The previously mentioned shows are the band’s only September dates on the calendar and arrive after a series of festival and headlining appearances.
With a packed schedule, the group’s next live performance is set for June 14 at Bonnaroo. Following their slot at the revered Manchester, Tenn. event, the band will swiftly move to Maryland Heights, Mo., for a concert at St. Louis Music Park on June 15. After a brief break, the group will continue their tour with two nights at Hampton Beach Casino in Hampton, N.H., on June 20 and 21, and another appearance on June 22 in Perinton, N.Y.
More ensuing gigs arrive on July 13, when the band takes part in their Peach on the Beach frame in Atlantic City, N.J., representing a spinoff of the annual The Peach Music Festival. After that, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead will play their FloydFest slot (July 25). August features three concerts: Aug. 1 in Shelburne, Vt., Aug. 2 in Portland, Maine, and Aug. 3 in Boston, representing shows that prelude the band’s newly announced NYC concerts.
Notably, after their Pier 17 gigs, JRAD will continue with already-announced shows, including Oct. 24 and 25 at the Fox Theatre in Oakland, Calif., and while out on the West Coast, an event at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, on Oct. 26.
News of the fresh concerts comes after a weekend in The Rockies, which included a June 1 stand at the famed Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colo., where the band welcomed Branford Marsalis, a fitting guest for the Dead cover band, given the saxophonist’s history with the actual San Francisco jamband.
Tickets for JRAD’s newly announced Pier 17 concerts go on sale June 7 at 10 a.m. local time.
